The Hong Kong Mortgage Corporation Limited launched the SME Financing Guarantee Scheme in January 2011. The Scheme aims to help small and medium-sized enterprises and non-listed enterprises obtain loans from participating lenders for meeting their business needs so as to enhance their productivity and competitiveness in the rapidly changing business environment. James Averdieck, the founder of  Gü Chocolate Puds, gave up a corporate career to launch his chocolate dream.  Inspired by Belgian chocolate patisserie, he saw an opportunity for high quality chocolate desserts. He formed a joint venture with an existing patisserie supplier and the first Gü products were developed - restaurant quality mouth watering desserts. The Hong Kong Inland Revenue Department (“IRD”) will be releasing the Departmental Interpretation Practice Note (“DIPN”) Advance Pricing Arrangement 48, establishing the procedure for enterprises seeking an Advance Pricing Agreement (“APA”) in Hong Kong. This will enable MNEs for the first time to prospectively lock in their corporate tax position both in Hong Kong and in relevant jurisdictions of the counterparty group entities. This is an important step in terms of managing/improving Hong Kong's international fiscal competitiveness and it signals that the government is ready to back MNEs in their negotiations with overseas jurisdictions.

There are a wide variety of curricula and school systems in Hong Kong, each with different application processes. Some schools prioritise applicants by their nationality or whether a sibling is already enrolled at the school, while others prioritise applicants by the date they submit their application or even by the applicant’s gender.
