OBJECTIVES

The Chamber will review their current operations with respect to carbon, identify our carbon footprint and set performance goals which will be regularly assessed. We aim to lead by example and through our experience will provide our members and the business community with guidance and tools on carbon reduction and footprint management.

Overview of the Environment Committee

The British Chamber of Commerce, through its sub-committees, has supported the protection of the environment, and in April 2005, established a dedicated Environment Committee, chaired by Anne Kerr.

The Environment Committee aims to consider the optimum, future, sustainable balance between the economy, society and the environment, and how Hong Kong businesses impact upon and are impacted by the environment. In addition, the Committee aims to raise the quality of environmental debate and balance the provision of educated, critical feedback on and support to Hong Kong Government's environmental policies.

The initial focus of the Environment Committee will comprise: air quality and regional challenges, solid waste management, transportation, sustainable development, Victoria Harbour and Corporate Social Responsibility.
